Neonatal Medicine

Caring for our smallest patients in big ways

24/7 Expertise for Newborns and Families

The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai offers the full spectrum of neonatal care. Our multidisciplinary team operates out of multiple units within the hospital to ensure that all newborn needs are met. Together, the Institute for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the Jennifer Gandel Kachura Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are equipped to provide pediatric anesthesia, general and corrective surgical services and care for premature infants.

The Level IIIB NICU is located near Sinai Hospital’s labor and delivery and post-partum units to ensure cohesive care for mothers and babies. Neonatologists staff the NICU 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our neonatal diagnostic capabilities include laboratory medicine, radiology (ultrasound, CT and MRI) and echocardiography.

The Level II Family Birthplace at Carroll Hospital in Westminster, MD, is similarly equipped to blend advanced technology and comfort.
