Carroll Hospital Awards Team Members for their Exceptional Care

Carroll Hospital recently honored several team members with awards for their extraordinary care. The team members were given the awards during separate presentation where they were recognized for going above and beyond their normal duties, which exemplified the hospital's SPIRIT values (spirit, performance, innovation, respect, integrity and teamwork).

The following is a list of the Carroll Hospital team members who were honored.

"¢ Registered nurse Magan Wantz, patient care coordinator in the critical care unit (CCU), received January's DAISY Award, a national program that recognizes nurses at thousands of partner hospitals. A team member for close to 17 years, Wantz was recognized for her compassionate and efficient care of a very critically ill patient during a busy time in the CCU.

"¢ Orthopedic surgeon Yatin Patel, M.D., was named January's Physician of the Month.  Affiliated with the hospital for nearly 13 years, Dr. Patel was nominated by the father of a patient for his extraordinary care. The father credited Dr. Patel for his expertise, which enabled his son to continue playing soccer and ultimately being recognized as a top athlete in his sport.  

"¢ Physician assistant Patrick Desamours was named December's Provider of the Month. Affiliated with the hospital for nearly two years, Desamours was nominated by a staff member for his expertise, dependability and genuine concern for his patients' well-being.  

Community members and hospital employees are encouraged to nominate a hospital team member who has demonstrated a special dedication and devotion to his/her job in a variety of ways.
