J.E.D.I. Champion of the Month: Allison Wimms
The J.E.D.I. office would like to recognize Allison Wimms for her contribution to LifeBridge Health’s justice, equity, diversity and inclusion efforts. Her important work with the Bias Interrupted series as well as her commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment at LifeBridge Health hasn't gone unnoticed. Allison is a passionate advocate and continues to show initiative, dedication and drive and goes above and beyond to promote equity and inclusion at LifeBridge Health.
Q1. How long have you been with LifeBridge Health and what is your current role?
A: August 2024 will mark my seven-year anniversary. I have always been part of The Leadership Institute at LifeBridge Health, in the role of Training and Organizational Development Consultant.
Q2. You bring so much passion into the work you do — what motivates you?
A: That’s a nice question. I appreciate that you or others would recognize that I care for my work. Thank you. Although it may sound trite, I love my job. I have always enjoyed instructional design—a notable part of what I do, what I studied through post-graduate school, and what I have done through most of my career. And, here, I have the opportunity to apply such skills to topics that are meaningful and critical (like inclusion, how to address bias, performance challenges and more) at an organization I respect, with colleagues I admire. That’s motivating!
Q3. Since starting at LifeBridge Health, what have you found most rewarding?
A: Truly, the most rewarding thing is hearing someone say, “That helped me,” or “I learned something,” or even, “That required course wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be!” When I see that my work (or our team’s work) is helping leaders or team members to develop—or to see our LifeBridge Health mission advance—I feel rewarded and grateful to be part of it.
